IAU XXXII General Assembly Concludes

The meeting makes history as first General Assembly held in Africa and first to be fully open access

The IAU will change its digital interface in 2025. It is expected to become visible to the public and our members from March 2025.

This is a significant effort driven by a small team, and we appreciate your understanding during the transition.

ASTRONOMY FOR THE PUBLIC

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) was founded in 1919. Its mission is to promote and safeguard the science of astronomy in all its aspects, including research, communication, education and development, through international cooperation. Its Individual and Junior Members — structured in Divisions, Commissions, and Working Groups — are professional astronomers from all over the world, at the Ph.D. level and beyond, active in professional research and education in astronomy. The IAU has 12715 Individual and Junior Members in 110 countries worldwide. Of those countries 87 are National Members. In addition, the IAU collaborates with various scientific organizations all over the world.
